Glorious Goodwood Day One Tips

13:50 Goodwood – Hawkerland (BEST ODDS 6/1 with Betfred)

There is only one horse in the field that has won over this trip, so I’m not worried about Hawkerland’s step up in trip here. He’s won his last two races and having a three pound claimer on his back today should help him deal with the five pound rise from his last win.

14:25 Goodwood – Hochfeld (BEST ODDS 12/1 with Bet Victor)

Hochfeld has won two of his last three races and looks one of the most in form horses in the field here. He’s got a top jockey on board in De Sousa and has no problems with the trip. If he can break better than he did last time out, when he was a beaten favourite, he’ll go close here.

15:00 Goodwood – Sound and Silence (BEST ODDS 12/1 with Stan James)

Sound and Silence has won two of his four career starts to date. He was disappointing last time out but that was a very competitive race and this is a step down in class today. The trip should prove no concern and having William Buick as his jockey is a massive plus.

15:35 Goodwood – Churchill (BEST ODDS 15/8 with Stan James)

I’m taking on the favourite here, as I’m surprised that he’s odds-on. I can’t look beyond Churchill with both O’Brien and Ryan Moore on his side. He was poor last time out but I’m backing him to recapture his form now he will be back on ground he is more comfortable with.

16:10 Goodwood – Mushahadaat (BEST ODDS 11/4 with Bet Victor)

I think that Mushahadaat will go close here. There isn’t much form to go on because it’s a maiden race, but he was second at Newbury in his only race so far, which looks the best form on offer. Having Jim Crowley on board will only help his chances to win here.

16:45 Goodwood – White Chocolate (BEST ODDS 11/2 with bet365)

White Chocolate looks the best bet in the field for me here, so I’m surprised that he’s not further down the betting. He’s never finished out of the top two in his career and he has won over both course and distance before. He looks a great each-way bet here considering the field size.
