Brighton v Newcastle – Away Win
(English Premier League, 16:00 Kick Off)
I’m usually more inclined to back the home team in ties that look as tight as this one. Newcastle, however, look convincing enough to back at a big price. They have won their last three league matches. Brighton, however, only picked up three points in the same period, where they would have been expected to pick up more in an easy run of fixtures. This match is unlikely to have a big difference now, but in the long run it could have lasting effects on either one of these clubs. Newcastle are flying high and I fancy them here.
Hannover v FC Koln – Home Win
(German Bundesliga, 14:30 Kick Off)
I’m very surprised that Hannover are available at such a big price here. FC Koln look in dire straits in the Bundesliga and have lost every single one of their matches so far this season. Hannover have had a better start to their league season. They sit fourth in the league and are yet to be beaten so far. I’d be very surprised if they didn’t end up winning this one.
Sassuolo v Bologna – Home Win
(Italian Serie A, 17:00 Kick Off)
I’m backing home advantage to get Sassuolo through this one. They had a very good win away at Cagliari last time out and a clean sheet to boot. Bologna have only one once in their five league games so far this season. This doesn’t look like an easy away trip and they struggled to beat a newly promoted side on their travels, and this will be a much tougher test.
